Policies:
TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SCHOOL:
Our center follows the general rules of Fairfax County Public Schools with regard to public holidays, the beginning and end of the school year, as well as school closures due to weather conditions. Our programs are working full-time year-round except for the above cases, including adverse weather conditions.
Russian Kids House is a program of continuous/year-round operation. Paying tuition reserves your child a place at school even in case of absence or vacation period.
CLOSING OF SCHOOL DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS:
In addition to public holidays, the school occasionally has to close because of inclement weather, accidents or disasters, including failure of power supply systems, water supply or heating / air conditioning.
The school decides on the temporary closing of schools, as well as the length of such closing, on the basis of information available at the time of a situation requiring such actions (accidents, weather conditions, etc.). For school closing due to weather conditions, our Center strictly follows the announcements of Fairfax County regarding the closure of public schools.
Russian Kids House will report incidents of school closing or delayed opening through e-mail, by phone and through the posting of the information on this site.
Information on school closures is also available on the site of Fairfax County Public Schools. (http://www.fcps.edu)
Medical Requirements
Under Virginia law, every child should have all the necessary vaccinations. If upon arrival at the Center in the morning your child has symptoms of infectious diseases, we can refuse to take the child on that day. If the child fell ill while staying at the center, then on receipt of the notice parents should immediately take the child home. Before the arrival of parents teachers provide required care for a sick child. Parents are responsible for providing child care during the entire time of illness, until fully recovered. Upon recovery from a cold or contagious diseases, the child returns to the Center and is expected to be fully prepared to participate in the program, including walking and playing outdoors.
Employees of the Center have the right to give the children only those medicines which fall under the category of essential. All prescription drugs in this category must be kept in their original packaging, which indicates the child's name, the recipe number, contact information, doctor, dose and application rules. We can not give children medicine usually are sold without prescription. It also includes patches, lotions, candy and mints (with the exception of ointments for skin rash in diapers, insecticides and sunscreens). If your child has any allergies or adverse reactions with respect to food, you must specifically notify us in the contract.
Food
Center does not provide food, so children should bring to the Center all food products for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack in the closed containers, which must indicate the name of the child.
Clothes and other accessories:
- Clothing should be appropriate for the season and weather, and allow the child to feel comfortable throughout the day's program;
- As a contingency the child should have a spare set of clothes (labeled with your child's name);
- Dirty clothing should be taken home at the end of the day;
- You can bring your own blanket or stuffed animal for an afternoon nap, but a blanket or bedspread should be washed every week, along with other bedding;
- Please do not bring valuable items (although we will make every effort to preserve all things against possible losses or other damages);
- We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Bedding materials are allocated to children on an individual basis, so please have your child's name on them. At the end of each week, parents take bedding home to wash and bring back on the first day of the next week.
Arrival-Departure
Parents are required to sign statements in daily presence at the time the child is brought to the Center in the morning and the same when leaving for home at the end of the day. Please do not forget to do it in the morning and evening, as in the case of an emergency this is the statement is a documenting and officially confirming your child's stay at the Center. It should also be kept in mind that following this routine with the child at the center really helps a child at an early stage with his or her participation in the program.
The fundamental policy of the Center is to surrender a child only to persons who were listed in a special form that is populated upon signing the contract. Perhaps zabiranie children and others, but to ensure the safety of children, parents and staff of the Center should meet the following formalities:
- Parents must write a written statement to the program director;
- The person picking up the child must present identification before a child is released from the Center.
Delays picking up the child and late fee
Please call us if you can not pick up your child on time. As a rule, the teacher should explain to your child why you cannot pick them up as usual - or the child may be upset. In addition, Center staff may have their own personal agendas, which may conflict in the event of your delay. Penalties for lateness:
- the first case of delay - a written warning;
- the second case - $ 25 (or $ 15 if you were able to warn of the delay)
- all subsequent instances - $ 35 (fine reduced to $ 25 if you call and warn about the situation).
If you are late more than 15 minutes:
- Center staff will call the person designated as the emergency contact;
- if we cannot find the specified person, the staff contact the police to help find parents;
- If the period of searching for contacts fails, we turn to the Children's Protective Services so that they may take care of the child as long as the parents cannot be found.
Emergencies
In case of fire, extended power outages, extreme adverse weather or evacuation for any reason, the Center will notify parents by phone and through an announcement, hung on the doors of the Center with the instructions, explaining where the children were moved and how they can be picked-up.
Contact us in case of emergency
If your child is unwell feeling, or experience any emergency, parents will be contacted by phone in the order specified in the special form of contact in case of emergency. These forms should contain information including place of work and schedule of the parents, as well as their home, office and mobile phones. We also require that alternative phone numbers and persons are specified in case we cannot communicate directly with the parents. It is the responsibility of the parents to timely report to the Center of any changes to such information.
